Student Support

The purpose of Student Support at AMA College is to enhance the experience of our international students in Perth, Western Australia.
There is a range of support available to International students at AMA College, from finding somewhere to live, finding a place to live, or finding how you can find work in Australia, there is help available.
Our Student Support starts from pre-departure as we believe accurate information is highly valued for the international students, the initial experiences of international students are also extremely important, laying the foundation of their success in Australia.
Student Support promoter various activities throughout the year for students to experience more the Australian culture.AMA College is able to provide information on important issues such mental health and social isolation.

Nicky Cook

Nicky has a diverse background in travel management working in Airlines and travel wholesalers in the UK before moving to Perth in 2003 as an international student. Nicky completed an Advanced Diploma in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management and went on to be a Front Office Manager in a busy resort in Bunbury before moving back to Perth. Once back in Perth Nicky became a Product Buyer for a Travel Wholesaler, responsible for destinations such as Mauritius, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
Following, this Nicky moved to insurance sales for the RAC and then into training and politics. Nicky’s travel background has honed an understanding of many cultures and built up an ability to communicate well with people whose English is a second language.
Nicky has a background in management, customer service, sales, training, marketing, negotiating and languages.
Nicky can speak English and Welsh and has an understanding of French, Spanish, Portuguese and German.

Julian Gimpel

Julian is an experienced manager, trainer and psychotherapist with over 20 years experiencing working in a diverse range of environments as a business owner, private practitioner and organisational consultant. Early in his career Julian worked in various settings as a child and adolescent psychotherapist. Over this time he developed his abilities in motivational counselling, suicide prevention and existential psychotherapy.
Julian has also worked in key leadership roles within WA’s community mental health sector where he led clinical and service delivery teams in crisis care, life skills training, supported accommodation and training. In 2013 he joined the AMA (WA) as General Manager Mental Health Initiatives where he manages the national award winning Work Better Program and the WA chapter of the Drs Health Advisory Service. Julian holds degrees in Social Science, Psychotherapy and is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Nadaria Lima

Nadaria grew up in Brazil and lived and worked in Ireland for a year prior to coming to Perth in 2012.
She has many years of experience in the international education industry – organising partnerships with international schools; checking documents to ensure compliance; working in student services, and coordinating social activities for international students.
She really enjoys working across different areas, as it keeps her motivated to learn something new all the time.
As a previous international student herself, she truly understands the challenges that our students will face, so she will be a great support because she gets to help and learn from people from all over the world.
Nadaria speaks Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Snow Li

Snow grew up in China, and completed her nursing training at Chaoyang Nursing School.
She worked for 5 years as a Registered Nurse in China worked in hospital, emergency, home and community and occupational health settings.
Snow immigrated to Australia 10 years ago, and is currently working as a Nurse Educator and Registered Nurse, with close to 16 years of nursing experience behind her.
Snow also understands the difficulties that international students face when coming to Australia, and has a very caring and supportive approach to help them settle into Australian life.
Snow speaks Mandarin and English.
