The HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing program is AMA College’s premium clinical qualification, giving graduates the opportunity to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as Enrolled Nurses.

Enrolled Nurses perform a critical role within the Australian healthcare industry, working in a variety of settings including aged care, hospitals, disability care and primary health. Study Options

The Diploma of Nursing runs over 3 semesters (18 months), with 20 hours of classroom and simulation contact hours per week.

Students will benefit from the College’s state-of-the-art simulation ward, modern classroom facilities and small cohort sizes.

The program incorporates three separate work placement periods, totalling 10 weeks.

Inherent Requirements to Nursing (Pre-registration)

Diploma Summary

Course:	HLT54121 – Diploma of Nursing CRICOS Course Code: 111811H
Entry Requirement:	International students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement. Domestic students must turn 18 by the end of their first semester of training. Must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling overseas or AQF 3 or higher qualification. Must be able to exhibit competency at Exit Level 3 from the LLN assessment. Applicants are also required to provide evidence of the following prior to being eligible for participating in the Professional Experience Placement. National Police Clearance. Working with Children Check Immunisation record that meets immunisation requirements for nurses, as stipulated by the Western Australian Department of Health at time of enrolment. All applicants must also meet the NMBA’s English Language Registration Standard requirements. Primary Language Pathway – you need to provide either. a declaration to declare English as your primary language OR English Language Test Pathway – Test result reports of the following test taken within 2 years of your application. IELTS Academic Module – 7.0 in each component of listening, reading and speaking and a minimum score of 6.5 for writing. PTE Academic – minimum score of 66 in each component of listening, reading and speaking and a minimum score of 56 in writing. OET – minimum score of B in each component for listening, reading and speaking and a minimum score of C+ for writing. TOEFL iBT – minimum total score of 94 with minimum scores as follows – listening 24, reading 24, writing 24 and speaking 23. Duration:	74 weeks – 60 weeks of study (including placement), over 3 semesters. 20 hours per week.
Cost:	International Students: Application Fee: $250 Tuition Fee: $30,000 Resource Fee: $2,385 The $250 non-refundable application fee and 50% of the first-semester deposit are required upon enrolment. The remaining balance can be paid in either three (3) or six (6) instalments. Please refer to the Course Handbook for detailed break-down of payment schedules. Please note that students will be required to purchase textbooks and scrubs, further details of what to purchase will be provided at orientation. Domestic Students: All training fees for eligible domestic students are fully subsidised by the WA State Government. Some eligibility conditions apply for fee-free training. Intakes:	February, April, July and October
Package Option:	International students may wish to package the Diploma of Nursing program with the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, creating a 2-year study program.

Professional Experience Placement

Students enrolled in the Diploma of Nursing have to undertake a minimum of 400 hours of supervised Professional Experience Placement.

Work placement is scheduled in three instances toward the end of each semester, and only after the student is deemed to have gained the requisite knowledge and skills, as assessed in the simulated work environment.

Placement 1 – at least 80 hours in an aged care setting
Placement 2 – at least 160 hours in a sub-acute setting
Placement 3 – at least 160 hours in an acute setting

Students are only eligible to attend their PEP once they have:

Successfully completed all assessments of that semester
Provided a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
Provided Department of Health Criminal Record Screening – free to apply when holding a current Police Clearance.
Provided an Immunisation record that meets immunisation requirements for nurses, as stipulated by the Western Australian Department of Health at time of enrolment.
Successfully passed the OccuMed Pre-employment Medical test.
Successfully completed HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid either with AMA College or any other Provider within 3 years of currency, *HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid is not equivalent or accepted

Student Registration and Mandatory Reporting Requirement

Under the National Law, AMA College must ensure that all students enrolled in the Diploma of Nursing program are registered with AHPRA for the duration of their study.

You do not need to apply for student registration as this is our responsibility. We are required to update your details with AHPRA in March and August each year.

Under the National Law, AMA College must ensure to notify the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency if a student undertaking clinical training has an impairment that may place the public at substantial risk of harm.
